Logan Boulet Award

Nominations are open for the annual Logan Boulet Award!

The Logan Boulet Award recognizes and honours deceased organ and tissue donors (posthumously) and/or their families who have made a meaningful contribution to organ and tissue donation awareness, advocacy, and education in Canada.

About the Logan Boulet Award

In the face of tragedy, donation is a tiny light in the corner of a family’s grief. A tribute to families who have made the decision, whether it led to successful donation or not, that decision is a give of life and hope and deserves to be recognized and honoured.

Logan Boulet made the decision to be an organ donor just weeks before his passing in the tragic Humboldt Broncos bus crash in April 2018. Logan was inspired to register his decision to donate by his coach and mentor, Ric Suggit, who had died in 2017. After Logan registered, he took the wise and necessary step of sharing his decision with his family.

The details of this tragic event reached a wide audience. “The Logan Boulet Effect” has inspired hundreds of thousands of Canadians to become registered organ donors and to talk about their decision with their families and friends. Logan’s family continue to share their story, making an essential contribution to nationwide public awareness of organ and tissue donation.

Logan and the ‘Logan Boulet Effect’ that he inspired through his decisions and actions have been a remarkable source of hope and good for patients in Canada in need of an organ transplant. It is our sincere hope that the Logan Boulet Award will play a part in continuing his legacy to inspire Canadians for generations to come.

We are honoured to present an annual award dedicated to Logan’s legacy, one that recognizes organ donors and donor families, those who so selflessly share their stories, raising awareness about donation, and the powerful impact it has for patients and their families.
